blocks Gaza aid convoy
Egyptian police have blocked an
opposition convoy carrying
medical supplies to the Rafah
border crossing with the Gaza
Strip.
Abdel Fatah Rizq, who helped
co-ordinate the convoy, said
police had arrested 50 activists
on Monday when they tried to
gather at the Journalists'
Syndicate in downtown Cairo. |

Tunnels feed besieged Gaza
Hundreds of tunnels under the
border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt are keeping many of the
Palestinian territory's 1.5 million impoverished residents
supplied with food and fuel.
On Saturday, Egyptian authorities found the entrances of three
tunnels and confiscated a large amount of fuel about to be
smuggled into the territory.

ISRAEL-OPT: Gaza patients asked to
spy to get treatment - rights group
JERUSALEM, 6 August 2008 (IRIN) - An Israeli
rights group said on 4 August it had collected 32
affidavits over the past 12 months from Palestinian
patients who said they were prevented from leaving the
Gaza Strip for medical treatment due to their refusal to
cooperate with the state's internal security service.
