Continuing political chaos, and the Israeli blockade of the Gaza
Strip has left thousands of Palestinians isolated and cut off from
needed supplies, including food, water and fuel.
Your
help is needed to support people living in dire conditions.

Background
Under the terms of International Law, Israel is responsible for the
well-being of the population living in Gaza as Israel controls
border access and airspace. As a response to rocket attacks from
Gaza into Southern Israel, Israel cut off vital services including
water, electricity, gasoline and severely restricted the flow of
goods. This exacerbated the already dire living conditions of the
population.
In
January 2008, the situation culminated in the breakdown of the fence
separating the Gaza Strip from Egypt and tens of thousands of
Palestinians poured across the border in search of food and other
essential goods. As highlighted in recent reports from the World
Food Program and Human Rights Watch, the Gaza Strip will remain
under very difficult economic, social and human rights conditions
caused by the continuing political chaos.
