Report from the BIG Day of Action
The
Boycott Israeli Goods Day of action went ahead with
dozens of actions and pickets taking place. In Brighton
a small picket went ahead outside Tescos despite
torrential rain. Members of the Brighton-Tubas
Friendship and Solidarity Group recently infiltrated a
settlement in the Jordan Valley and saw Palestinian
workers, including child labourers, packing dates into
boxes marked ‘Tescos’.
In
London an autonomous group calling themselves JAGUAR
(Jews and Gentiles Undermining Apartheid Regime)
attempted to lock the gates of Agrexco, the Israeli
state export company. Agrexco is currently importing
large quantities of Medjoul dates from the occupied
territories for the Christmas period. Agrexco had hired
extra security due to the boycott day of action and the
blockade could not take place although police blocked
the road to the depot. One protester was punched in the
