Free Gaza Boat Prepares to Break the Blockade

The Palestinian International Campaign to End the Siege on Gaza is laying plans to receive Free Gaza Boat at the beginning of August. The vessel, which will carry 45 passengers from 15 countries,  hopes to complete the trip from Cyprus to Gaza beach as an act of solidarity with the 1.5 million Palestinians who continue to survive under conditions of siege.

Paul Loudree, the key organizer of the boat trip, has worked hard to establish partnerships with local, Gaza-based civil society groups. Towards this end, he has been in regular communication with Dr. Mona Al-Farra, who represents the board of the Campaign.

According to Mr Mahfouz Kabariti,  director of the Palestinian Society for Amateur Fishing and Marine Sports, a flotilla of small craft will sail out from the port of Gaza to welcome the boat's arrival.

Dr. Al-Farra stressed the importance of broad community  participation in this important event. The aim is to remind the international community that no matter the tadiyeh or temporary truce adopted a month ago, Israel's regime of collective punishment remains in effect, depriving citizens of basic human rights.
